New Year in Sydney

What are you doing during week between Xmas and the New Year? I am going to Sydney, Australia as I am writing a book called the Amazing People of Sydney. The stories of those who founded this great city are both frightening and inspiring. The city was formed when over 700 convicts were deported from England in 1787. In old sailing ships, it took 9 months before they reached their new island prison. They had to start from scratch as there were no buildings, no shops and no toilet facilities. Aboriginal tribes looked on in horror knowing their way of life was going to be changed by the invaders. For the convicts and their guards it was a question of survival. Many did not do so, but those that did gradually built a beautiful city from the desolation of being in a colony 10,000 miles from where their families were. I shall spend New Year's Day near the Sydney Opera House remembering those who founded the great nation of Australia.

How Shakespeare Made It

Visiting the place where William Shakespeare was born at Stratford on Avon gave me an idea. Why not have him give his views via a video on how he started and became a famous writer. So, with the help of friends we made a 3 minute video near where he was born. It can now be seen on:
